Boxing Ludusport practices a Western style of sport Boxing with an emphasis on sound fundamental principles, the ability to change modes of attack between pressure fighting, and counter punching and ambidexterity.  Managing range and practicing sound footwork is instrumental in creating angles and avoiding the attack of an opponent.

The curriculum focuses on the proper mechanics of how to deliver and position one's body both offensively and defensively in an orthodox or “right-handed” stance.  We cover basic combinations instrumental to boxers.  We practice safe, controlled partner drills and exercises that develop confidence, and learn how to train a partner with mitt work.  Along those lines, students are challenged to improve their cardiovascular capacities through shadowboxing, drilling and pad work.

Kickboxing As with the other Basic level classes in the Ludusport system, students learn the basic punch-kick form combinations utilized in the sport of kickboxing.  Students learn round kicks, front kicks, blocks, core Ludusport combinations, and practice basic partner exchanges while learning how to use the “Thai-pad” in place of the Boxer’s focus mitt as a training tool.

Thaiboxing Building upon prerequisite classes, students add knees, elbows and clinch fighting to the existing skill set.  Ludusport once again deviates from Thaiboxing tradition by using wrestling concepts to flesh out a dynamic clinch fighting system that goes beyond the basic plumb and straight knee attack.  Classes explore elbow combinations, round, thrust and straight knees , “kick-knee” combinations as well as basic neck wrestling techniques.  Moreover, students retool the Thai pad training experience for knees and elbows, as well as engage in basic partner interactions.

Wrestling (Submission) Wrestling is a competitive sport that utilizes wrestling techniques in conjunction with submission wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques to produce a system of sport and self-defense for situations in which a person is grappling on the feet or on the ground.  The sport is called “Submission” Wrestling because whereas “Wrestling” ends with a throw or a pin, Submission Wrestling seeks an end in a compromising hold on an opponent that threatens unconsciousness, joint or bone injury.  A participant in this sport “taps-out” or gives up verbally when he is placed in one of these compromising positions. The Ludusport system of Submission Wrestling shares a common core with many BJJ systems, as well it emphasizes leg lock submissions, Freestyle takedowns and head control as avenues of attack and defense.

Jiu Jitsu (Brazilian) Ludusport is affiliated with Grpl Club and Professor Yan McCane. Utilizing our No-Gi submission wrestling skills and adding in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu learned from Professor Yan we are growing in our skills and as a Gi Jiu Jitsu school.

Fitness While practicing our fitness curriculum, you can expect to integrate heavy bag work, mitt work, calisthenics, kettle bell exercises, core training, isometric exercises, obstacle course and more during the class.  This class will keep you guessing, force you to adapt to the demands, and send you on your way well worn for the better!
