August has arrived!

With the new month we have some slight changes to our schedule!

Don’t forget, this Friday is movie night! We will plan to start the movie close to 8pm!

August 27th we will have our end of Summer event. Food at 4pm and a Magic show at 5pm! Adults and kids alike will love what Jeff Evans has to show us! There will be time after for kids to play a while.

Brandon had an amazing performance on July 29th. He finished his opponent by Technical Knockout with a couple knees to the liver and some ground and pound. Next up we will have Dustin, Logan, and Zac competing in September!

That wraps it up for now, See you all in the gym soon!

We will be closed for Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is doing wonderfully in this chilly Fall season. We will be closed on Thursday November 24th for Thanksgiving. We are very grateful for you all and hope you have a great holiday with those you care about!

Ludusport Will Be Closing Its Doors For The Foreseeable Future.

Due to the uncertainty of the times, Ludusport will be closing its doors indefinitely on August 22, 2020.  We hope to reopen in a new location in the welcoming future.  If you have any questions, we will be responsive via Social Media and email at woven@ludusport.com.

In the meantime:

The blind owl hunts in the darkness.  It’s the 1920s all over again.  The Centennial and the Prohibition.  The Easy Talkers.  “This Is Who We Are”.

While You're Away, A Workout #3.

Friends-

Here’s another video for your viewing. Given how things are looking, it might be a good idea to consider buying a heavy bag…as much as I hate to say it! Here is an introductory video which focuses on heavy bag work. I think it is very helpful to systematically run through it all. Now is a great time to do that.

If you have any questions about this video, martial arts workouts in general, or anything else for that matter feel free to email us at woven@ludusport.com with your questions. We’re happy to answer them!

While You're Away, A Workout #2.

Friends-

As you well know, there is a lot of uncertainty on a number of different fronts right now. Just know that the Gym is in a holding pattern. Any developments that will or might affect our community will be shared with you all. We don’t want to inundate you with information-you have enough of that already-so we will be discerning in what we send send your way.

From the Ludusport video library, I’ve included another video that can be a template for your home development..

https://vimeo.com/157055903

It’s another shadow boxing workout that shifts technical focus from round to round. Whether you’re in a parking lot or a large room, you should be able to complete the workout.

If you have any questions about this video, martial arts workouts in general, or anything else for that matter feel free to email us at woven@ludusport.com with your questions. We’re happy to answer them!

The Ludusport Video Library Is At Your Disposal.

Martial Artists-

Now that we are beginning to ease into a new routine, let’s make the best of the situation.  This is an opportunity-a government sanctioned mandate to let all of those nagging injuries as well as the ones that really shouldn’t be categorized as nagging in the first place, heal up.  Rest and rehab should be the order of the day.  I am taking my own advice.

For those of you that can no longer abide, I can relate to that as well.  Right now, we’d like to support your mixed martial arts ambitions in the best way that we can.  The Ludusport library of training videos is available for your consideration.  It includes videos that focus on technical development as well as fitness workouts.  You’ll find some cinema art on the THE MIME as well.

The curriculum is organized as a college curriculum might be.  There is a key on the Vimeo channel page description that will help you make sense of the titling, which, if used properly, can help you go to the discipline and the skill level that you seek.  If you have any questions, let us know.

Set some goals, and do your best to achieve them even in this unprecedented circumstance.  Enjoy.

Ludusport Will Be Temporarily Closing Its Doors Until Further Notice

Due to the current health situation and per the mandate of the Governor, effective immediately Ludusport will be closing its doors until further notice.  I’ll dispense with the platitudes, and say simply that we will get through this and that the Ludusport Gym will be here to welcome you back.

All member accounts have been placed on hold, and members will be compensated with a 1/2 of month credit once we resume operation to make up for the loss of training time for which you have already paid.

In the interim, here is a collection of training videos that we hope will go some way towards enabling you to get some training done during this time away.  Drew and I will be available and happy to answer any questions that you might have about the video catalogue.  Feel free to email us at woven@ludusoprt.com and we will reply as quickly as we can.  The videos can be found at:

https://www.youtube.com/user/univsallambassador/videos

Thank you for your understanding and support of our gym during this time. Updates will be posted on social media, on the website, and in the Ludusport App. We will see you as soon as possible!

Sincerely,

Trevor & Drew

Ludusport Schedule Update In Response To Covid 19 Developments.

Covid 19 is a formidable influence in our lives right now, and the sport of Mixed Martial Arts is more vulnerable than most sports to its health effects. For many of us it is a lifestyle and an essential part of our daily routine.  We are considering every option that will allow it to remain so.  We will respect the recommendations of authorities on the issue of Covid 19, while doing our best to balance our interests as Mixed Martial Artists.

A patron’s membership will gladly be paused upon request.  For those of you who wish to continue training, we will be modifying our curriculum for the foreseeable future to include classes that focus more on individual technical and fitness development.  The gym will be available for open training, as always.

We will be enhancing our sanitation routine in the facility, and we will provide cleaning supplies to members for their personal equipment.  You can find towels and a spray solution for cleaning.

We ask that members please stay home when ill,  and remember that some carriers of Covid 19 may have mild symptoms.  This can lead to a person unknowingly passing the virus to a friend or loved one without knowledge of having done so.  Please take this moral hazard into account in your daily travels and interactions with  strangers, family and friends.

Drew and I will be observing these guidelines as well, and while we currently have no intention of closing the gym, any information about schedule changes will be posted on Facebook and in the Ludusport app.

Positive Changes To The Ludusport Curriculum Coming In March!

Phase 2 has begun! The school has grown, and we are beginning to hit our stride. We’re revising the schedule to bolster the curriculum. Please consult the “Weekly Schedule” for all changes, but we have added a Saturday morning Fitness class, “Box Core” for which members will need to reserve a spot. It will focus on aerobic, technical striking devlopment and core strength. We’ve also added a Wrestling Drilling class, as well as a Kickboxing pad class! And finally, we’ve set aside time for drilling on Friday evenings. Ask Trevor or Drew if you have any questions!

Kickboxing Pad Class Added Friday at 5 pm!...and open drilling afterward.

It’s long overdue! The 5 pm time slot on Friday evenings will now offer kickboxing pad rounds to start your weekend. Everything you are already accustomed to in the boxing pad class, but retooled for kickboxing. See you there!

Immediately after, we will be offering an open drilling class. It’s an opportunity to come in and received feedback and direction while you drill techniques that interest you in any Ludusport discipline. The MMA class will be replaced by this offering. However, we think that this is a better use of schedule time. Mixed Martial Artists will find ample opportunity to practice during this time slot and others. Talk to Drew or Trevor if you have any questions.

Wrestling Drills For the Monday Early Bird.

Mondays at 4:15 pm, anyone interested in Wrestling drilling can show up and go with the flow. The time is earmarked for repetitive drilling of familiar techniques. The class will falls at the more intense end of the class spectrum for the competition minded and the competitive student. Everyone is welcome!

"Boxing Core" On Saturday Mornings!

We now have a fitness boxing class on the schedule Saturday mornings with 30 minute sessions, back to back from 9 to 11 am. You can register for one of the 4 time slots in each 30 minute time block through the Ludusport app. This will guarantee you a spot in the class. We respectfully ask that you attend the class if you sign-up for a particular time slot-for obvious reasons. The full workout will be posted on the blackboard when you come arrive, and it will vary from week to week. The class will assume a familiarity with the shorthand prompts that we use in our other classes, as it will be a self-directed class. We will post prompts by the heavy bags and arrows to direct the workout progression.

The class will include elements of technical focus, fitness and core work and will consist of approximately 7 x 3 minute rounds. Classes will start promptly on the half hour.

Please pull me or Drew aside to answer any questions that you might have in advance of the class start time.
